Dr. Bernard McNamara is a respected and loved physician with over 45 years of experience and training. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, he moved to California, and finished his 3 years of Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Los Angeles County – University of Southern California Medical Center. He then completed 2 years of a Fellowship program in Infectious Diseases at the Wadsworth VA Medical Center, and UCLA Medical Center. In addition to being board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases, he obtained
a third board certification in Emergency Medicine by 1987. He continues to officially maintain his certifications in all three specialties. He currently practices full time Emergency Medicine at several Los Angeles and Orange County hospitals and is the Associate Director at one of the hospitals. 

He is also the Medical Director for several Primary Cares Practices and Home Health Care Agencies. His years of experience include operating his own practice in Hollywood, in the 80’s and 90’s, where he did primary care, travel vaccines, and industrial accident care. During this time, he was even the medical director of many of the local movie and television studios and was the doctor for the Academy Awards for 4 years. He was on staff at many of the local hospitals, for Primary Care and nfectious Disease Consults, including Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Glendale Adventist Medical Center. 

In addition, he was involved in clinical research, both as principal investigator or co-investigator for multiple studies involving infectious diseases, including HIV and AIDS. He attended many international conferences and lectured on a number of topics during these conferences.

Dr. McNamara has always been active in the local communities he served. Over the years, he was active in the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club, multiple AIDS organizations
